As master hog roasters, we’re in the know about the history and cultural importance of hog roasting across the many different countries and traditions it features in. A little-known fact about Essex is that for hundreds of years it has been hosting a competition for married couples in which the winning pair receive half a pig as their prize. The Flitch Trials date back to 1104 and is the oldest recorded competition in Britain. Taking place every four years and still happening in modern times, the trials see couples compete in a series of tasks to prove with mutual devotion and love and can claim a ‘flitch’ of bacon – half a pig – if they are crowned to winners.
If you’d like a hog roast at your special event, we won’t make you compete in a series of tasks. All we ask is that you get in touch with our brilliant Hog Roast Tiptree team of chefs and hog roasters by filling in our enquiry form, giving us a call or getting in touch via our Hog Roast Tiptree Facebook Messenger! We look forward to hearing from you and helping you create an unforgettable occasion.
