Celebrations With A Hog Roast In Fobbing

Another wet summer weekend, another successful catering event from us at Spitting Pig Essex. It really does seem that no matter the weather, even with pouring rain drenching everything, a hog roast in Fobbing can still lift people’s spirits and make any event a great success.

For Tilly’s birthday party yesterday, we provided the food for a group of 40 in lovely hotel grounds and I don’t recall seeing one grumpy or even slightly miserable face, even despite the torrential downpours throughout the day. The lovely smells of our perfectly roasted hog drifted around the gardens and brought smiles to the guests’ faces.

Tilly had asked us to provide our ‘pigs in buns’ as she had already enjoyed them so much when we catered her work party at Christmas last year. We slowly roast a hog for several hours in front of you and your guests, slice off the salty crackling and carve the meat to fill fresh bread rolls with both. Add our tasty apple sauce and homemade stuffing and your choice of condiments that we supply, and you have our famous, delicious, hot, fresh hog roast rolls.

We arrived at the hotel early afternoon as we would be serving the food in the hotel gardens around teatime. Tilly also asked us to bring along some salad and potato dishes, so we told her about all the different options that we have on offer. She chose a tomato, basil and mozzarella salad, our yummy homemade coleslaw and a dish of herby new potatoes that we cooked on the day underneath the meat. In addition to our various menu options, we invite our customers to devise their own menus if preferred, as we love to help you to create your perfect event.

We set up the marquee for Tilly’s party, to help protect the guests from the pouring rain, and got down to cooking the hog roast in Fobbing. After scoring and then preparing the hog with salt and water, we cooked it slowly for a few hours until the guests could stand it no more and demanded that we serve the meat! When the guests tried the hog roast rolls themselves, their faces lit up, and Tilly knew she had made the right choice for catering her birthday.
