Summer Engagement – Hog Roast In Southminster

A while back, Georgia and Craig called us to arrange the food for their intimate summer engagement party. They wanted a hog roast in Southminster but they were worried that a whole pig would be too much food for their 20 guests. We put their mind at ease when we told them that they could chill any leftovers for the next day or freeze larger amounts for later. We could strip the pig clean and give them all the meat to do what they wanted with, so there would be no waste. We also let them know if we cooked one of the smaller pigs that we can provide, on one of our smaller machines, that would be ideal for the number of guests, including seconds or more, and with a limited amount of meat left over.

As well as a hog roast, we were asked to provide some salad and the ingredients for hog roast sandwiches, which is arguably our most popular option when catering for someone’s event. This includes doughy, floury buns so that you can make a sandwich out of our delicious pieces of carved pork, as well as our special apple sauce and stuffing, of course. We ensure our hogs make a lot of yummy crackling, too, which you can eat in your sandwich or on the side.

We got to the happy couple’s house yesterday morning to set up our gazebo in the back garden. It was a nice, warm day – not too hot, thankfully – as we prepared the small pig by scoring it diagonally and pouring some water over it. Before turning our hog roast machine on, we smothered the hog in salt, to produce that lovely crackling that everyone seems to adore.

As the guests began to arrive, we started to prepare our salads fresh on-site as we always do (there can be nothing worse than a wilted Waldorf!). Georgia and Craig said their emotional speeches to close friends and family members and then it was time for us to remove the crackling from the pig and start to carve. There was certainly enough tasty meat for everyone to have seconds and more.

Another successful event with a hog roast in Southminster.
