Engagement Party – Hog Roast Mashbury

We’re highly committed to not only meeting but exceeding customer expectations, whether you hire us for a birthday party, a wedding or a business event. No matter your type of occasion or budget, and whether you have a handful of guests or a hundred plus, The Spitting Pig want to help make your day successful, so we work with you to create the food package that suits you. You can explore our menus online but they’re in no way final – they can easily be adapted or changed to your style if you prefer.

When Olive and Alistair called us to book their engagement party, the first thing they asked was if we would mind adapting one of our menus for their party. We were happy to and so sat down with them to talk through what they had in mind. They were thinking of our Private Party Menu Option 5, with just a couple of tweaks. You can choose five canapés with this menu, which are served by our team as the guests arrive, along with a welcome drink. The couple wanted a dim sum selection, chicken satay and kebabs and duck wraps, which are all featured on the menu, but wanted to add Olive and Alistair’s favourite, too – chicken liver pate with black truffle. For the main course, with this menu, the couple would normally have two roasts of their choice but they preferred to just have the hog roast Mashbury, which would be served buffet-style, together with seasonal vegetables and their choice of potatoes (in this case, new potatoes roasted with sea salt and rosemary). They could have two desserts but decided to just choose one for their party – our scrumptious lemon tart with fresh raspberries.

The day of the engagement party soon came round and we arrived at the lovely hotel venue on Friday, ready to slowly roast the hog for a few hours. The rainy day meant we arrived complete with a marquee but we could still easily cook the hog roast Mashbury and by the time the guests started to arrive it smelled wonderful inside. The couple were very grateful that we managed to adapt the menu to their needs – so much so that we were even included in Alistair’s speech! It’s always a great feeling to exceed a customer’s expectations.
