Beating The January Blues With Hog Roast Mundon!

Hog Roast MundonYou’ve heard of the ‘January Blues’, haven’t you? Whether it’s the lack of sunlight caused by shorter days, depleted energy levels, the generally miserable weather or the pressure to make good on your New Year’s resolutions, it’s completely natural to feel a little down in the dumps at this time of the year. In fact, around a quarter of Brits admit to struggling with the winter blues that are said to peak on January 16th, also known as ‘Blue Monday’, which is often cited as being the most depressing day of the year.

Ahead of this year’s Blue Monday, Hog Roast Mundon was approached by Leanne, who wanted to throw an uplifting event with live music, poetry readings and dancing to raise money and awareness for a charity that focuses on helping those battling mental illness. Planning to get as many people on board as possible, she opened up the event to everyone in the community. Very quickly, Leanne found herself overwhelmed with interest and the tickets sold out faster than she could have ever anticipated!

Hog Roast MundonKnowing that there’s never a dull moment when Hog Roast Mundon is around, Leanne had asked for our team to take care of the cooking side of things at her event – and we did so gladly! Our catering manager, James, was on the ball, as always, when it came to handling this booking, and in the space of a few hours, he and the team managed to rustle up a meat-lovers dream of deliciously tender pulled pork, irresistibly crispy crackling, flavourful applesauce and soft and floury gluten-free rolls.

Salads, coleslaw, mixed sweet potato and regular fries were also included on the menu to add depth of flavour to the meal. As well as these, an entirely plant-based option of BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls was made available for vegetarian/vegan and gluten-intolerant guests.

The combination of Hog Roast Mundon’s incredible food and the entertainment options Leanne had organised made for a truly unforgettable evening for everyone involved. So much so that the guests all went home with a full belly and a huge smile on their face.
