The Hog Roast Stisted team were in their element last weekend after being asked to cater for one of our favourite type of events: a surprise birthday party! The celebration, which took place at Brooks Farm had been organised by Grace in commemoration of her boyfriend’s 30th birthday. Hoping to mark the special day accordingly, Grace had come up with a guest list of 40 people, which included some of the couple’s nearest and dearest friends and family members!
With the birthday boy himself none the wiser, Grace had worked in secret to piece together the spectacular event with the help of our catering manager, James who had recommended our classic hog roast menu with a few extras to spice things up. Grace absolutely loved this idea, and after taking some time to think things over, she decided to complement the hog roast centrepiece with our BBQ 100% beef handmade burgers and chefs own gourmet sausages, served in gluten-free rolls along with a meat-free option of grilled vegetable skewers (halloumi optionable) for the vegan and vegetarian guests.
Making their way to the venue bright and early allowed James and the rest of the Hog Roast Stisted catering crew to prepare the entire feast by 4 pm, which was the serving time set by the client. Up until then, the team worked tirelessly to cook the full-size pig until it took on a glorious golden colour and was covered in crispy crackling, all while juggling a series of different tasks.
With the sausages and burgers still sizzling away on the grill waiting to be served, Grace arrived with her boyfriend in tow who was shocked to be greeted by a sea of familiar faces and the delicious scents that wafted from the buffet table! Grace’s weeks of hard work and secret-keeping had culminated in a vibrant event which everyone was able to enjoy. But best of all, Hog Roast Stistead’s delicious spread proved irresistible for the guests. Being the birthday boy, Grace’s boyfriend was first to step up and collect a plateful of the mouthwatering grub which couldn’t have been better received!
