Hog Roast Ingatestone Spent Easter Weekend Serving A Full Roast At A Farmer’s Market

Perhaps you’ve heard us mention it before, but here at Hog Roast Ingatestone, we don’t ever let the weather stop us from doing what we love. Now, it’s not every day that we get to experience both snow and shine at once, so the Easter bank holiday weekend was definitely an anomaly for most UK residents this year! But for Hog Roast Ingatestone, this bizarre change in the forecast didn’t so much as hinder our plans.

Having been asked to pitch a stall at a local farmer’s market on the Saturday afternoon, our catering crew had already prepared themselves for any potential hiccups, because when it comes to British weather, you just never know what to expect, do you? Fortunately, the snowfall didn’t turn into anything more than a whimsical flurry that otherwise looked incredibly out of place on a sunny spring day, and the bitter chill in the air was quickly combatted by the steadily rotating pig, which as a result of the colder climate, took a tad longer than usual to reach its final state of perfection. Other than that, Hog Roast Ingatestone went about their morning as normal; preparing the meats with salt and water, using the pork juices to cook the sage and onion stuffing and whipping up a bowl of sweet applesauce.

Once everything had finished cooking, Hog Roast Ingatestone carved up the pig, separating the pork slices and savoury stuffing into chafing dishes, whilst the crackling, applesauce and wholemeal rolls were presented in wooden bamboo bowls ahead of the market’s scheduled opening time.

Patrons who attended the open-air market were instantly lured toward our stall, from which wafted salivating scents of perfectly cooked pork and all the trimmings. As an added extra, the team had also prepared some grilled vegetable kebabs with tzatziki dip and flatbreads, which the non-meat-eating attendees greatly appreciated.
