When Mark called Hog Roast Basildon a few weeks ago to book in a private party, he asked us to make pigs in buns for most of his guests. Having enjoyed them before himself, he knew that the majority of his guests would love them too but he also needed a vegetarian option for two people. We can offer all kinds of alternatives for guests with dietary restrictions and for vegetarians, this includes stuffed mushrooms and peppers, and homemade burgers and quiches, but our most popular option is undoubtedly our veggie skewers. To make the skewers, we add chunks of tasty halloumi cheese and fresh vegetables such as mushrooms, mixed peppers, courgette, tomatoes and red onion, and grill to perfection, then serve with pitta bread and a lovely Tzatziki dip. Mark thought this would be a great addition to his menu, so he booked us in for these, the pigs in buns and a couple of salads.
Yesterday, we attended Mark’s event and our Hog Roast Basildon chef and team members arrived at his home venue in the afternoon and started preparing the meat. Once this process is done, it takes hours to slowly but surely roast a hog. While it was sizzling away, we kept an eye on it and before we knew it, it was time to grill the skewers, put together the coleslaw and tomato and mozzarella salad and get everything ready to make the pigs in buns. By 6pm, our feast was ready and Mark and his guests were queuing up for a slice of heaven.
