Our lovely customers Dan and Vicky had their gorgeous daughter Anabelle christened in the beautiful village near Greensted and decided to have a spit roasted hog with all the trimmings for lunch for their intimate gathering of family and friends. The day started off wonderfully warm with the sun making a welcomed appearance. The team at Spitting Pig Essex arrived early to cook the hog roast Greensted from fresh on site on our spit roaster. Our customer and their guests loved the theatrics of the hog turning on the spit, it really was a talking point with everyone coming to have a sneaky peak and take a picture. I lost count of the amount of times I heard “that smells delicious” and “can you save me a large piece of crackling”. Whilst we laid out our serving station and prepared the trimmings, including homemade apple sauce cooked fresh on site the guests left for the church knowing that upon their return a fantastic lunch awaits them. After the ceremony had finished the guest arrived back to glasses of bubbles in the sun. With everything prepared the one last thing to do was to carve the hog and turn the succulent shoulders into pulled pork, we added our own recipe of BBQ sauce to the pulled pork, delicious.
As soon as we started to carve we had a que, most people couldn’t decide if they wanted BBQ pulled pork in their baps or plain hog, so my advice was have both. Why just have the one flavour! The food must have been tasty as I seemed to see the same faces coming back for 2nds and 3rds! Once everyone couldn’t fit in another hog roast Greensted mouthful we collected the plates and cleared away, leaving the guests enjoying the sun and playing cricket.
A lovely day was had by all, another successful event for Spitting Pig Essex.
