Around the Hog Roast Harwich offices and kitchens this week the conversation has taken a decidedly festive turn. We’ve been looking at our calendar and noticed that it is only now about 10 weeks until Christmas day, which for a catering team that has a speciality festive dining service means we have to start thinking about the festive season now. 10 weeks to the big day means it is only about half that until our festive dining bookings will start to kick into high gear. Many come our way for our stylish Christmas catering, so we have to start our prep well ahead of time.
Which is why Christmas chat has been rumbling at Hog Roast Harwich this week, and which is why we have been asking the all-important question: what goes on your festive menu?
Every home will have slightly different ideas about what a Christmas evening looks like at the dining table. For some, it’s ham over turkey every time, whereas others couldn’t do without the more traditional golden bird. Pigs in blankets are a must in most homes, but perhaps it’s the stuffing balls or chipolatas that really shine. And what to say about your side accompaniments? How do you prepare your potatoes? A golden roast or a mash? Perhaps both! Veg: glazed or just well roasted? Boiled and seasoned or in a delicious cheese sauce for the cauliflower?
Then of course there is dessert, and with Christmas there are so many options to choose from. Many of us here agreed that a good mince pie is all you need after the stuffing that is a full Christmas plate, whereas others need a good Christmas log or a pudding. Maybe a creamy trifle, or maybe just a little bit of everything – after all, it’s Christmas!
When it comes to your festive dining at Hog Roast Harwich, we’re happy to go over all of these questions with you again and craft your Christmas menu. It means many things to all of us, but one thing is always the same wherever you go: it’s going to be special; it’s going to be delicious!
